TAOIST TAI CHI FOR HEALTH A FREE
PUBLIC LECTURE
The Collingwood Branch of the Taoist
Tai Chi Society of Canada will host a presentation on Taoist Tai Chi
for Health by Dr. Bruce McFarlane on Thursday October 13, 2005. This
presentation will take place from 7:00 until 9:00 pm in room 203 of
the Temple Building, 126 Hurontario St., Collingwood
Dr. McFarlane has been in family
medicine in rural Ontario and in the Arctic for 35 years. For the last
twelve years, he has been practising Taoist Tai Chi, leading classes
here in Collingwood as well as conducting workshops across the
country.
Dr. McFarlane is the Medical Advisor
to the Taoist Tai Chi Health Recovery Centre near Orangeville,
Ontario. The Centre is the first of its kind in Canada and it provides
the opportunity for those with significant health problems to live in
residence for a week at a time as they improve their health through
the practice of Taoist Tai Chi in a relaxed yet focused setting.
Locally, the Collingwood Club offers two Health Recovery classes each
week for ongoing support and health improvement.
For health improvement and
maintenance, our club offers many beginner sessions throughout the
year in Collingwood, Thornbury, Meaford and Wasaga Beach. Once a
student has completed a beginner session, classes for continuing
students are held throughout the week.
Taoist Tai Chi provides everyone,
regardless of age or physical condition with the opportunity to
recover, maintain and improve health. The Taoist Tai Chi Society is a
registered charitable organization and all instruction is provided by
accredited volunteers.
We hope that you will find the time
to join us for this informative evening. There will be demonstrations
and the public will be invited to try some of the moves and ask
questions. Health care professionals and the general public are
encouraged to attend.
For further information, contact Ron
McRae or Ted Sandford at the Collingwood branch of the Taoist Tai Chi
Society at 444-0194.
