The Collingwood
branch of the
Fung
Loy Kok Institute of Taoism was established in 1995.
Today, we have
more
than
200
continuing students and satellite locations in Wasaga Beach,
Creemore,
Thornbury, Meaford and Owen Sound.
Beginner courses
are offered throughout the year to those
interested
in exploring the many health benefits attained through the practice
of Taoist Tai Chi.
Both day and
evening beginner
courses are
available. Classes are conducted over a three or four month period
by accredited instructors who teach the 108 moves that make up the
Taoist Tai Chi set. As well, regular classes for continuing students
are held in locations across the area.
In addition, there
are
two
health recovery classes offered each week at the Collingwood
location for those whose health issues make participation in a
regular class difficult. The health recovery program is overseen by
Dr. Bruce McFarlane, MD, who is both a continuing instructor with
our branch and a medical advisor to the residential health recovery
program operated at the
International
Taoist Tai Chi Centre just outside Orangeville.
The
Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism
is a non-profit, registered charitable organization, operated by
volunteers. The society was founded by Master Moy Lin-Shin, a Taoist
monk who came to Canada in 1970.
