| Building value tops $30
million |
| Enterprise-Bulletin (Fri, January 12, 2000) |
| For the first time in more than a decade, construction in
Collingwood topped the $30 million mark in 2000, according to the final
numbers released by the town's building and planning department. |
| Last year's numbers also beat the 1999 numbers - also the
best over the previous decade - by about $5.2 million. |
| In 2000, the town issued 354 building permits (an increase
of 32 from the previous year). The town also collected nearly
$300,000 in development charges, and nearly $225,000 in building permit
fees. |
| Construction value went over the $30 million mark in
December, with permits issued for more than $1.4 million in construction
for the month. In December 1999, there was only $254,000 in
construction value. |
| Major permits for the month include $200,000 for the mental
health centre in the hospital, and 10 units on Woodland Court being built
by Law Development. |
