Former town staffers pass away

Two former employees of the Town of Collingwood passed away this week.

Former justice of the peace and Collingwood police officer Greg Brindisi passed away on Monday at the age of 62. Brindisi served with the municipal police service for 17 years, from 1970 until 1987, before becoming a justice of the peace in 1990. He stopped active service as a JP in 1995. Officers with the local OPP detachment, some of whom served with Brindisi, took part in a standing vigil during the visitation and service, and a flag ceremony.

A funeral service was held yesterday at Trinity United.

On Tuesday, former Works Department superintendent Don Leonard passed away at the age of 66. A service was held today at 11 a.m. at All Saint's Anglican Church.

Leonard began working for the town in April of 1960, and retired in the summer of 1996 - the entire time with the town's works department.
