| Beach building just under 1999 numbers |
| Enterprise-Bulletin Special (Tue, January 16, 2000) |
| The construction boom in Wasaga Beach fell minimally short
of similar 1999 statistics. |
| The December Building Report, issued by the Town of Wasaga
Beach, shows the value of construction for 2000 was approaching $35
million, just slightly less than the $35.2 million in 1999. |
| The number of building permits issued increased overall
last year to 617 permits, up from 503 in 1999. New residential
permits totaled 262 compared to 235 in 1999, while total permit fees
amounted $266,446 compared with $273,400 the previous year. |
| "We had anticipated an active year the final number
reflect that," said Wasaga Beach mayor Walter Borthwick.
"Looking ahead, the current boom appears to be far from over.
We are preparing for an even busier year in 2001. |
