| Theatre Collingwood proudly announces that the August
finale to the 201 season is Nurse Jane Goes to Hawaii, written by Canadian
Allan Stratton. |
| Artistic director Steven Thomas has replaced the previously
mentioned Noises Off with this fabulous farce. Nurse Jane Goes to
Hawaii is an explosively funny play which reached overnight success in
1980 at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theater. |
| Doris, an advice columnist and her husband Edgar, a
teacher, live in a middle-class home. When Doris is scheduled to be
away on business, Edgar plans a romantic weekend with flaky Harlequin
romance novelist, Vivian, a friend he met at ceramics class. |
| Unknowingly, Doris remains home for the weekend to surprise
her husband and all three lives tumble into chaos. Suddenly the
house is filled with a cavalcade of wacky characters revealing mistaken
identities, long lost children and wild coincidences. |
| The 2001 summer season of Superb Comedy runs from June 13
until Aug. 25 with another slate of classic comedies moving from a
light-hearted romantic comedy to an outrageous farce. |
| The opening production in June, Salt-Water Moon, is an
absorbing and believable tale of lost love regained. |
| In July's production of Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward, newly
married Charles accidentally summons his deceased wife back during a séance.
In late July or early August, Dan Needles' The Perils of Persephone is a
hilarious comedy about rural life and politics. |
| For only $89, you can enjoy all four comedies packaged up
with a two-for-one entree offer from East Side Mario's. Plan a
summer filled with laughter by contacting Theatre Collingwood at (705)
