Home could be sweeter for Blues
Not so long ago, the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena
was an intimidating place for visiting teams to play in, and while the
fortunes of the Collingwood Blues have improved drastically over the past
month, home hasn't been the safest of havens for the club.
The 15-14-3-1 Blues, who are on a six-game unbeaten streak heading into this weekend's OHA Provincial Jr. ?A' Hockey League action, have already lost five times on home ice and have two ties thrown in as well. On Friday, Collingwood will host the North Conference basement-resident Huntsville Wildcats at 8:30 p.m., followed by rival Couchiching on Saturday evening, with a puck drop at 8 p.m. The Terriers own a 4-0 mark against the Blues this season. "What we're concerned about is that our guys might look past the Huntsville game and be thinking about (Couchiching)," said Blues' coach Tim Dickey. "We're not good enough yet to be even thinking about taking teams lightly." The Terriers learned last week that Huntsville can be dangerous as the Wildcats posted an 8-3 victory on home ice. BLUENOTES: The Collingwood PUC "Mini games" during the intermissions of Blues' home dates featuring minor and girls' hockey teams begin this weekend...Saturday is also the rescheduled autograph night after the game...Last Friday night's cancelled contest with Aurora is tentatively set for Saturday, Jan. 12 here at 7:30 p.m.
