Collingwood Now: Canadian Red Cross Responds to Attacks in United States

(OTTAWA, September 11, 2001) – In response to today's attacks in the United States, Canadian Red Cross is mobilizing its disaster response teams and providing assistance to Canadians seeking information about their family in the affected areas.

Canadian Red Cross is monitoring the situation closely to determine the level of its response in the coming days. Contact has been made with governments and the American Red Cross to assess ongoing humanitarian support. Disaster response teams are ready to help people stranded at Canadian airports and borders.

Canadians seeking information on family members in the affected areas, should call their local Red Cross office. Cash donations to help the victims of this tragedy can be made by calling local Red Cross offices or
1-800-418-1111.
