CANADIAN BLOOD SERVICES ASKS FOR
PATIENCE -
LEVEL OF CALLS EXTREMELY HIGH
|
| Ottawa, Sept. 12, 2001 --
Phone lines at Canadian Blood Services have been inundated with telephone
calls from members of the public wishing to donate blood. |
| "We are overwhelmed by
the response from the public and grateful for the generosity and
willingness to help that is demonstrated by this outpouring," said
Dr. Graham Sher, Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Blood Services.
"Blood will be needed in the days and weeks to come -- we ask that
those who are unable to get through on our phone lines today please try
again tomorrow or in the coming days." |
| Those wishing to donate are
asked to call 1 888 2 DONATE for information about donating or to book an
appointment. Telephone lines are very busy so donors are asked to continue
calling later in the week and in the days to come. |
| Information about clinic times
and locations can also be found on the Canadian Blood Services web site at
www.bloodservices.ca. |
