NEW GALAXY CINEMA PLANNED
FOR COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO
TO OPEN IN FALL 2006
Toronto, ON (CGX.UN) – November 17, 2005 - Cineplex Entertainment announced
today the development of a seven screen entertainment complex at First Street
and Highway 26 in Collingwood, Ontario. The 26,000 square foot state-of-the-art
facility will start construction in the Spring of 2006 and will open to the
public in the Fall of 2006.
At a press conference this morning at the Collingwood Public Library, Mayor
Terry Geddes and Cineplex Entertainment Executive Vice President, Dan McGrath
announced the new project and “cemented” the plans with a unique photo
opportunity, capturing their hand prints in cement. The hand prints will form
part of the sidewalk outside the theatre when it opens next Fall. The event was
attended by Collingwood business people, Town Councillors and local media.
“We’re always excited to announce a new theatre and Cineplex Entertainment is
particularly thrilled to be announcing this project in Collingwood,” said Pat
Marshall, Vice President Communications and Investor Relations. “Collingwood has
evolved into a premiere four-season resort destination. We’re very pleased to
bring Collingwood its own state-of-the-art cinema which is a wonderful addition
to the high quality vacation facilities in the area. We know residents and
visitors alike will enjoy the Galaxy Cinemas Collingwood entertainment
experience.”
"The town of Collingwood is pleased to welcome Cineplex Entertainment to the
Collingwood community,” said Mayor Terry Geddes. “They are the leaders in
Canadian out-of-home entertainment and have a great reputation for supporting
all kinds of community initiatives”
Patrick Coulter, the real estate partner for the development, was unable to
attend but said prior to the event, “I’m looking forward to working with
Cineplex Entertainment on this project. The community of Collingwood and Blue
Mountain are really going to enjoy having an entertainment destination in this
location.”
Galaxy Cinemas Collingwood will offer more than just movies. With large luxury
seats, ample legroom, and all stadium-seating (each seat row being 18" higher
than the previous row) each auditorium will feature wall-to-wall, giant curved
screens and Dolby Digital Surround Sound. A Zero Gravity Family Entertainment
Centre will be located off the spacious lobby and can be accessed without a
movie ticket.
Whether guests prefer the traditional popcorn, candy and soft drinks or more
elaborate offerings, the concession stand will offer a wide range of options. As
well, a Yogun Fruz frozen dessert bar will serve up several no-fat and low-fat
yogurts and premium ice creams.
