Get ACTIVE in South Georgian Bay; TRY something new!

All citizens of the Town of Blue Mountains, Clearwater Township, Collingwood, and Wasaga Beach are invited to join in fun free recreational activities between Sunday September 10th and Saturday September 16th, 2006.

Under the moniker “TRY IT ON” these fun and free activities are a collaborative effort; sponsored by South Georgian Bay’s private, public and charitable sectors.

TRY IT ON, lead by South Georgian Bay’s ACTIVE 2010 committee, includes a variety of events for people of all ages to try. The calendar of events will be available at host locations and on the Simcoe/Muskoka/Grey ACTIVE2010 web site: www.activedirections.ca.

The goals of TRY IT ON are:
  • To promote physical ACTIVITY
  • To provide an opportunity for South Georgian Bay citizens to try something new
  • To expose families to new opportunities for physical ACTIVITY
  • To keep each activity free of charge to participants
  • To raise awareness of ACTIVE 2010 South Georgian Community Action Plan
By working with local organizations to offer free recreational events, the South Georgian Bay ACTIVE2010 committee helps remove barriers to participation for low-income families.

Our generation is the most sedentary in history! In 2003, almost one out of every two adults in Ontario was overweight or obese. Between, 1981 and 1996, the number of obese children in Canada between the ages of seven and 13 tripled. We must act now to create communities that promote healthy eating and regular physical activity.
