Alexander Damyanovich
From Russia With Love!
MUSICAL CONCERTS COMING
TO COLLINGWOOD, OWEN SOUND
18
September, 2007
Collingwood and Owen Sound will be the settings for a pair of all-Russian
operatic concerts this fall featuring a full complement of vocal and
instrumental forces from across the Georgian Bay region.
Spearheaded
by Eugenia’s Alexander Damyanovich, an experienced classical musician, the
concerts will feature various excerpts from Russian operas by Russian
composers, such as Mussorgsky and Tchaikovsky. Mr. Damyanovich has
recruited musicians from the Georgian Bay Symphony, the Saugeen Bach
Choir, the Georgian Bay Concert Choir, the Markdale Choral Society and
various other musicians (both singers and instrumentalists) from across
Grey, Simcoe, Bruce, Huron, Wellington and Dufferin counties.
In grand total, the performers will include an estimated 30
voices plus an instrumental band of 30-35 members.
“This
project has been a dream for over seven whole years and is furthermore
meant to allow yours truly to contribute in a particularly significant way
to the cultural life of this area,” explains Mr. Damyanovich, who will be
the conductor for these concerts. The concerts will be held on October 14
