Town of The Blue
Mountains Announces Approvals for Thornbury Horse Park
June 11, 2007
Today, Mayor Ellen Anderson announced that a resolution of appeals
relating to the development of the Thornbury Horse Park, Home of the 2007
Collingwood Horseshow, will lead to an approval of the Official Plan
Amendment and related Zoning By-Law Amendment by the Ontario Municipal
Board.
Mayor Ellen Anderson stated, “I am very pleased to announce that the valid
concerns raised by an adjacent landowner, R.F. Fry and Associates Limited
have now been addressed to the satisfaction of all parties which will
allow developers to proceed with the project.”
The principles of the agreement deal with the scope, review and monitoring
of environment investigations that must be completed at specific phases of
development. Further, concerns related to noise from the Horse Show and
the ability of the adjacent property to continue with their ongoing
agricultural operations without any adverse impacts from any development
of the
Horse Park will also be addressed. The Town, as part of the Agreement,
will provide all reports and studies to the adjacent property owner prior
to consideration by staff and council.
Mayor Ellen Anderson said, “We thank all parties in coming to a reasonable
resolution of this matter which will result in this very exciting project
which, in our opinion, will be beneficial to our recreational community.”
The 250-acre equestrian community will be a first class, unique centre in
that it will offer a stateof- the art horse facility including residential
condominiums as well as club amenities for those who wish to pursue
equestrian goals while residing in the first class destination region of
the Town of The Blue Mountains.
The Town of The Blue Mountains’ mission is to realize the community vision
through innovative leadership and strong partnerships to provide
sustainable services into the future.
