HYDRO OUTAGE LASTS THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT Apr, 12 2008 Collingwood area residents were with out power over night. The problem started just before midnight as a storm rolled through the area. There was a fire on a pole in the Stayner area; it appears a lightning strike may have started the fire that took power out in the region. Crews worked through the overnight hours to restore the juice. Creemore residents got power back during the breakfast period, followed shortly by those in Collingwood and Stayner. The hydro one website says at the height of the black out it had seven thousand customers affected. The entire Town of Collingwood was without power, and its population is currently 18,000. Power was restored before 9am to most areas.
