Hillsdale 11:03 PM EST Thursday 15 November 2007 Snowsquall warning for Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale continued ..Snowsqualls and treacherous driving conditions developing tonight and continuing Friday.. This is a warning that snowsqualls are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. A big change into winterlike conditions is on tap for the snowbelts to the southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay tonight and Friday. As increasingly colder Arctic air floods across these relatively warm waters..Rainshowers and wet flurries will turn over into heavy flurries and local snowsqualls near midnight. As of 11 PM precipitation has changed over to flurries at London airport and web cameras in the Collingwood to Meaford areas are showing white stuff in the air there as well. These heavy flurries and snowsqualls are expected to focus into two primary bands overnight and persist into Friday afternoon. The first snowsquall from Georgian Bay is expected to come onshore between Collingwood and Wasaga Beach then move inland affecting communities such as Barrie..Innisfil..Bradford and Alliston. Meanwhile the second snowsquall which is forming over Lake Huron is expected to come onshore from north of Grand Bend to Goderich then move inland affecting communities such as exeter..St Marys..Ingersoll and London. This squall is likely to intersect portions of highway 401 between London and ingersoll making travel very dangerous..Especially overnight and Friday. Local snowfall amounts of near 15 cm are quite possible in the heaviest snowsqualls by Friday morning. Some melting of the snow on relatively warm ground may reduce actual accumulations a little. Motorists planning travel to these regions should be prepared for dangerous winter driving conditions due to very slippery snow covered or slushy roads..Black ice..And severely reduced visibilities at times. Allow much extra time to reach your destination as a result. Snowsqualls will begin to weaken later on Friday as the winds diminish and the airmass moderates and stabilizes.
