When you are new to the essential oils, a bewildering array of choices might overwhelm you. In each monthly newsletter, I will attempt to introduce you to the many options that Young Living offers to help you make life-enhancing healthy choices.

In this months e-news, let me begin by introducing some of my own favorite essential oils and nutritional products

LAVENDER
If in doubt, use Lavender. Lavender is a universal oil that has traditionally been known to balance the body and to work wherever there is need. Lavender can be diffused or applied topically. It can also be added to food or rice milk as a dietary supplement. Lavender has been called the “swiss army knife” of essential oils because of its versatility . In addition to its wonderful fragrance, lavender is well regarded for skin care. It can be used to cleanse and soothe cuts, bruises and skin irritations. It is especially soothing to heat stressed skin. You can apply Lavender directly onto burns to help prevent scarring. When feeling tense, or the approach of a headache, I reach for the Lavender bottle (one drop on your index finger, applied to both temples and one drop on the back of the neck). For acne problems, try 5 drops in 4 oz. of water(keep in a glass jar) and using a cotton ball, apply to affected areas. It has been said that one drop in a 8 oz. glass of water (foll! owed by another glass of water) will take care of your hang over !!! A drop of Lavender on your pillow may lead to a relaxing and restful night’s sleep.

PANAWAY
PanAway is an oil blend of wintergreen, helichrysum, clove and peppermint. A warming blend of essential oils to help banish muscle discomfort and soothe localized skin discomfort. It promotes quicker healing by the induction of oxygen into the tissue site. It can relieve bone pain, arthritis, rheumatism and promotes healthy circulation. It can also help with sport injuries, sprains and muscle spasms.

PEPPERMINT
A sweet, highly fragrant oil traditionally used in the easing of the digestive process. Can be used in massage for exercise-induced muscle discomfort. One drop of peppermint oil in a bottle of water will keep your body temperature low, cool you down on hot summer days (they’re almost here ) and help with hot flashes. Try adding peppermint oil to a spray bottle with water and spray the insides of those stinky tennis shoes. Or maybe the stinky feet. For fever, place 2-3 drops on the bottom of you feet to help lower the temperature. Peppermint has been found to increase mental accuracy of students by up to 28%. All of that and it tastes great too!!!
Safety Data: Do not use if you have high blood pressure. Children under 6 can only use peppermint when diluted(e.g. 1 drop of oil to 2 tablespoons of pure olive oil) to help reduce fevers. When diffusing, or added to the (cool mist) humidifier, just add one drop , keep their door open and only use for 1 hour.

BERRY YOUNG JUICE
A powerful blend of the highest known antioxidant fruit juices with the strongest anti-aging effects. Ingredients include Ningxia wolfberry juice, blueberry juice, pomegranate juice, agave (as a sweetener) , apricot juice, raspberry juice, as well as lemon and orange pure therapeutic-grade essential oils. Just one teaspoon in a cup of water or juice twice daily is the recommendation.
The Chinese wolfberry (known as Goji Berry to the native Chinese) is more than just a complete food: It is a vitamin and mineral-filled antioxidant that contains over 13 % protein by weight. According to the Natural Science Institute in Beijing, the wolfberry has more beta carotene than carrots and nearly as much protein as bee pollen and as much vitamin C as oranges. It also contains 12 trace minerals , vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6 and vitamin E. Berry Young Juice is the juice of choice for daily health optimization.

It is difficult to name just these few as favorites. I could go on , but I invite you to explore and discover your own favorites on my web page.
